Town elections are coming up in May for Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester, and candidates are starting to submit their intent.
Town Election in Marion is on May 14, and seats are availabe on the Board of Health, Board of Assessors, Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, Marion Open Space Acquisition Commission, and the Marion School Committee.
Two spots each are up for election on the Marion School Committee and Planning Board. Board Vice Chair Andrew Davis and Kristen St. Don Campbell who resigned are up on the Planning Board. Michelle Ouellette Smith and April Rios are up on the School Committee.

After months of debate and planning, Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester have each found a way to send their youngest learners back to school full time.
Elementary schools in the Tri-Town began the academic year in a hybrid learning model, which split students’ time between the classroom and learning at home. While students third grade and above will continue to learn in a hybrid model, kindergarten, first and second graders’ only options are full in-person or full remote after each town approved plans to get the youngest learners back to the classroom full time.

Talks on a new plan to return Rochester Memorial School’s youngest students to full in-person learning were postponed at a Dec. 17 Rochester School Committee meeting. The issue will be discussed at a future meeting, which has yet to be scheduled.
ROCHESTER Families will have to wait a little longer to find out if and when their students will return to full in-person school.
