(WHEC) Starting this month, Volunteers of America (VOA) is partnering with the Rochester Red Wings in an effort to Strike Out Poverty .  The campaign raises funds for services including emergency shelter for homeless families, supportive housing for seniors and veterans and early education programs for at-risk children.  This year, the campaign is being sponsored by Citizens.  Every time a Red Wings pitcher strikes out an opposing hitter, a donation will be made to the VOA to support its services. On Friday, VOA’s president and CEO will throw the first pitch during the game at Frontier Field.
