Syracuse Crunch rallies for wild 7-6 win at Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. After going down by three, the Syracuse Crunch rallied back and scored six unanswered goals on its way to a 7-6 win over the Rochester Americans on Wednesday night at the Blue Cross Arena.
The line of Boris Katchouk, Otto Somppi and Taylor Raddysh combined for nine points (4g, 5a), while Sean Day, Peter Abbandonato and Antoine Morand rounded out the Crunch scoring. The victory advances the team to 13-8-1-0 on the season and 5-3-1-0 in the 12-game season series with the Amerks.

The Buffalo Sabres prospect could continue playing in the AHL where he is not usually eligible, speeding up his development timetable by playing against professionals on a nightly basis. For Quinn specifically, the latest news isn’t so great. Lance Lysowski of the Buffalo News reports that the young forward will undergo season-ending surgery on a lower-body injury that he has been dealing with for months. Because the decision was made now, Quinn will have time to train this summer after his recovery.

Syracuse Crunch finishes strong to blow out Utica, 6-2

Syracuse, N.Y. The Syracuse Crunch toppled the Utica Comets, 6-2, Monday at the Upstate Medical University Arena.
Otto Somppi paced the Crunch with his second consecutive two-goal game to advance the team to 12-8-1-0 on the season and 3-4-0-0 in the 14-game season series with the Comets.
Goaltender Spencer Martin recorded back-to-back wins with 26 saves in net for the Crunch. Comets goaltender Joel Hofer turned aside 29-of-24. Syracuse went 2-for-5 on the power play and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
