Durham, N.C. One man was shot and killed on Fayetteville Street in Durham at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, police identified that man as Cedric Deon Bowens, 42, of Durham.
Police said that when they arrived to the scene, they found Bowens suffering from life-threatening wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he later died, officials said.
Officials are continuing to investigate that death.
Earlier in the evening, a woman showed up to a Durham hospital with a gunshot wound. Officials say she was shot near Dearborn Drive, which is six miles away Fayetteville Street. Officials say that these two shootings are unrelated.

Raleigh, N.C. Two men were shot at a Raleigh hotel in the 900 block of Wake Towne Drive Thursday afternoon. Each ended up at a different hospital for treatment of his injuries, and there is not an ongoing threat to public safety, police said.
One of the men made his way to Duke Raleigh Hospital. The other was spotted outside the hotel by a Wake County school bus driver who offered to help.
That man declined the offer and got into another car.
When police arrived on Wake Towne Drive to investigate the shooting, neither man was present.

Raleigh, N.C. A Raleigh daycare worker was charged with assault on a child and misdemeanor child abuse.
Arrest warrants say that Christine Eaves, 51, grabbed a 1-year-old child by the throat for around two seconds with her hands.
Eaves was being held at the Wake County Justice Center under a $5,000 bond.
Officials did not make public which daycare facility Eaves worked at.
