Attorneys for the family of 15-year-old Quawan Charles say newly-revealed audio implicates Janet Irvin, allegedly the last woman to see him alive, in the teenager s death, CBS News Jericka Duncan reports.
Quawan had disappeared on October 30, and his body was found a few days later on November 3 in a sugar cane field, 30 minutes from his home.
The family s lawyers say the audio, obtained exclusively by CBS This Morning, is Janet Irvin admitting to a private investigator that she did not call police right after she realized Quawan Charles had run away from her home.
His family insist he was murdered and was beaten to death
The cops say he drowned in ankle-deep water the sugar cane field
He was last seen alive by Janet Irvin and her son Gavin who he was friends with
The pair picked Quawan up then took him to their trailer where Gavin says the two boys smoked marijuana
The Irvins say he left their trailer without telling them where he was going
They moved out of the town in the following weeks without explanation
Quawan s family have hired lawyers who are determined to bring someone to justice
The two people who last saw 15-year-old teenager Quawan Charles alive say the boy smoked marijuana before he vanished from their trailer, days before being found dead in a sugar cane field last month.
LSP Trooper Jacob Brown
Aaron Bowman and his attorneys held a press conference at the state Capitol Monday demanding justice and transparency after state trooper Jacob Brown was arrested last week for excessive force during Bowman’s traffic stop in May of 2019. Baton Rouge Attorney Ronald Haley said Bowman, a black man, was beaten in the head with a police-grade flashlight.
“We are demanding the immediate release of the video that shows the brutality that was enforced upon Mr. Bowman, and how dozens of officers stood around like some damn spectators,” said Haley.
Bowman received stitches in his head from the flashlight, suffered broken ribs, a fractured arm, and psychological damage.
