Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight bruisers Jack Hermansson and Edmen Shahbazyan will scrap this weekend (Sat., May 22, 2021) at UFC Vegas 27 inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Hermansson was really, really close to a title shot in 2019 until Jared Cannonier’s power-punching proved too formidable an obstacle. Since then, Hermansson is just 1-1, splitting a pair of bouts against top-notch Middleweights. While he’s clearly still one of the best 185-pounders in the world, Hermansson really needs to string some wins together. Souza will be on the shelf for at least the new few months while his arm heals up, and it’s possible that he decides to take the rest of 2021 off considering his age and the injury. It will be interesting to see if the UFC decides to keep Souza on its roster or if it decides to let him go. At age 41 and coming off of four straight losses, it would be justified to release him, but at the same time, “Jacare” is a legend of the sport and might get another fight.

UFC 262 took place this past Saturday with Charles Oliveira claiming the lightweight title via second-round TKO of Michael Chandler. However, things could have gone much, much different for “Do Bronx.”
In the opening round, Oliveira was hit with a big shot from Chandler but was able to secure a takedown and move to the back quickly, where he locked in a body triangle. After about 90 seconds of backpacking Chandler without attempting a submission and landing minimal strikes, Chandler was able to explode out of the position and return to his feet. Once there, Chandler landed huge shots that hurt Oliveira and forced him to eventually pull guard to save himself. For the remainder of the round, Chandler sat atop Oliveira and landed good ground-and-pound while Oliveira just looked to survive to the horn. Survive he did but for
