Brad Miller crushed a walk-off grand slam in extra innings as the Philadelphia Phillies recovered from a seven-run deficit to record an 11-8 victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon to avoid a doubleheader sweep.
The Phillies scored three runs in the seventh the last two onJ.T. Realmuto s single to avoid the loss. They won the game the following inning in dramatic fashion when Miller sent a 1-2 sinker from Nationals left-hander Sam Clay (0-4) 425 feet over the fence in right.
Rhys Hoskins, Andrew McCutchen and Alec Bohm also hit homers for the Phillies.

Joey Votto homered in a franchise-best sixth straight game and Tucker Barnhart ripped a go-ahead two-run single in the sixth inning to lift the visiting Cincinnati Reds to a 7-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.
Votto answered back-to-back two-homer performances by belting a two-run shotin the first inning. The 2010 National League MVP has gone deep eight times in the last six games to boost his home run total to 20, marking the ninth season that he has reached that plateau.
Kyle Farmer added an RBI double and scored on Aristides Aquino s sacrifice fly for the Reds, who won three of the four games in this series and nine of 13 vs. Chicago so far this season.

Dylan Moore hit a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Seattle Mariners overcame a seven-run deficit to defeat the visiting Houston Astros 11-8 on Monday night.
Kyle Seager added a three-run homer and rookie Cal Raleigh had a three-run double as the Mariners won their fourth consecutive game. The Astros had a three-game winning streak snapped.
Kendall Graveman (4-0) got the victory with a scoreless inning of relief, and Paul Sewald worked the ninth for his fourth save of the season.
Houston’s Ryne Stanek (1-2) got two outs in the eighth but also allowed a hit and a walk. Brooks Raley came on and walked Tom Murphy to load the bases for Moore, who homered halfway up the second deck in left field at T-Mobile Park.

Juan Soto homered, singled and drove in three runs, Josh Bell added a three-run home run and the visiting Washington Nationals defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 on Tuesday.
Josh Harrison had two hits for the Nationals, who snapped a five-game losing streak.
Washington shortstop Trea Turner left in the first inning after reportedly testing positive for COVID-19.
Nationals starter Erick Fedde tossed 4 2/3 innings and gave up eight hits and four runs. Fedde struck out four and walked one.
Wander Suero (2-2) earned the win in relief.
