Ten Gold Medalists Headline 2021 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team Trials Invitees

Twenty of the nation’s top collegiate athletes, including 10 who have captured a combined 21 gold medals competing on past USA Basketball teams, have accepted invitations to attend the April 18-21, 2021 USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team trials.
Invitations to the trials, which will be held at the University of South Carolina, were issued by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee and USA Women’s Senior National Team Committee.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, no media or guests will be allowed to view trials sessions. USA Basketball will provide media with images and b-roll for non-commercial, editorial use on a daily basis.

Kentucky Wildcats junior guard Rhyne Howard was named a First-Team All-American Saturday by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. In doing so, Howard became the first Kentucky player to ever earn First-Team All-American honors from the four major organizations.
For the second year in a row, the Associated Press tabbed Howard a first-team All-America – the first player ever to earn that honor from the AP. She followed by being named a Wooden Award All-American for the second straight year. Friday, she earned her second straight All-America honor from the United States Basketball Writers Association. This is the first All-America honor from the WBCA for Howard, who was tabbed All-America Honorable Mention by the WBCA in 2019 and 2020.
