Ryde Academy elated following Dance World Cup selection

Ryde Academy has declared itself elated after being chosen to represent Team England at the Dance World Cup later this year. Often referred to as the Olympics of Dance, the competition will be streamed live across the World from August 13 to 20. The event would have been held in Spain this year but due to pandemic, the event has been moved to Telford, Shropshire. The Ryde Academy team will join 5,000 other dancers from across the world, hoping to bring home a medal for Team England. Once registered, students had less than 12 hours to meet the deadline for the video qualifying round, judged by a panel of dance professionals to determine their suitability for the national team.

UK finals to be held in the summer Ryde Academy are excited to announce that their dance team have been chosen to represent Team England at the Dance World Cup. The Dance World Cup has over 120,000 young people around the world aged between four and 25 trying to qualify in their country for the international competition. The ‘Olympics of dance’ Dance schools around the world describe it as, ‘the best quality children and youths dance competition in the World’ and the ‘Olympics of dance’.

Ryde Academy student Jess Way, was given the award personally by High Sheriff Caroline Peel, as the ceremony wasn t able to go ahead in March. The school says Jess has had a tough year not only because of the COVID but also because her mum became poorly in the summer, was admitted to hospital and sadly passed away in October.

By Lucy Morgan Audience and Content Editor Students isolate after Covid positive at Cowes Enterprise College More school children are self-isolating after a positive Covid-19 result at Cowes Enterprise College. An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said: A member of the Cowes Enterprise College community has tested positive for Covid-19. Public Health has offered advice and consequently 15 students need to self-isolate as a precautionary measure, until 26 March. High-quality remote learning will be provided for the pupils throughout this time. The school remains open to all other students.
