Santa Clarita Grocery Donates Multiple Refrigerators To Local Moose Lodge

The team-up between SC Grocery and Lodge 2173 was seamless due to the many Lodge members who also volunteer at SC Grocery, including Raymond Smith, an 89-year-old Korean War veteran.  This collaboration will contribute to Lodge 2173 events such as their annual Christmas giveaway, in which 10 Santa Clarita families are provided with complete meals for Christmas dinner. “We need the room, we gotta do as many donations as we can. Our main goal is to help the people who need it,” said Mike Quigley, President of Moose Lodge 2173.     Do you have a news tip? Santa Clarita Korean War Veteran Reflects On His Service, Offers Advice To Future Soldiers In what was a transformative part of his life, Santa Clarita resident Raymond Smith, a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps and Korean War veteran stands by that his years in service turned him into who he is today. Smith joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951. He was too young to serve in World War II, but Smith had multiple brothers involved in the war which was his inspiration to join up as soon as he could. After joining the Marines, Smith was soon deployed to Korea, leaving behind friends and family who didn’t make the cut. Smith says it was an honor to serve his country, and he was lucky to have never had to fire a gun or kill anyone over the course of the war.
