While talking with others outside a Marathon gas station at the end of North Randolph Street on Sunday morning, Omar Villarreal ranted in the wake of Indianapolisâ latest mass killing.
Between puffs of his cigarette, he spoke of the wave of violence that consumed the city last year and into this year as if it were a virus with no known cure.
At the other end of North Randolph Street, police tape and crime scene vehicles surrounded a light gray home where gunshots rang out and altered the lives of countless people just hours before.
Three adults and one child were killed there Saturday night in what police have said was a domestic incident. A 6-month-old taken from the scene was found safe.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Visitation has been set for four family members who were allegedly murdered by a member of their own family.
Crown Hill Funeral Home says visitation has been scheduled for Feb. 4 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for for Raymond, Kezzie, Elijah and Rita Childs. This is open to the public.
A private church service will be held on the morning of Feb. 5 at Friendship Baptist Church.
Visitation and service for Kiara Hawkins and her unborn baby will be held on Feb. 5 at Friendship Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. and service is at noon.
