Raynham Fire awarded $10.9K grant for safety equipment Community Content Chief Bryan LaCivita recently announced that the Raynham Fire Department is one of nearly 300 fire departments across the state to have been awarded a grant as part of the Department of Fire Services Fiscal Year 2021 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program. The $10,900 grant awarded to the Raynham Fire Department will be used to purchase a gear dryer to clean Raynham firefighters personal protective equipment. On behalf of the Raynham Fire Department, I d like to thank the State Fire Marshal s Office and the Baker-Polito Administration for this generous grant, said LaCivita. Having additional equipment such as this dryer will benefit our firefighters greatly as it will help to ensure our firefighters are wearing safe and clean gear while on the job.

Plainville fire chief gets new job in Easton

Plainville fire chief gets new job in Easton EASTON – Plainville Fire Chief Justin Alexander will be the new head of Easton’s Fire Department. Town Administrator Connor Read recently appointed Alexander to replace Fire Chief Kevin Partridge who retired last fall and is serving in an interim basis. The appointment is subject to reaching a contact with the Select Board, which will consider the contract Thursday night, April 1, Read said. If a contract is settled, Alexander will start work in Easton on May 3. There were two other finalists for the post, but their names were not released. Alexander brings seven years of experience as fire chief and Emergency Management director of Plainville.

Alexander is a fourth-generation firefighter who worked through the ranks in Plainville starting in 2004 as a firefighter/paramedic, and then moving to lieutenant and deputy chief. His father, Donald Alexander, is a former lieutenant for the Raynham Fire Department He also served as EMS coordinator, training officer, department mechanic, dispatch liaison and equipment coordinator. He served on municipal building committees to build Plainville Town Hall and public safety building. “He has innovated in the community para-medicine space; supported the design, construction and operation of a regional dispatch center; and has been deeply involved in community outreach in Plainville as chief,” Read said.

Raynham firefighters graduate from Massachusetts Fire Academy

Raynham firefighters graduate from Massachusetts Fire Academy Community Content Two Raynham firefighters graduated from the Massachusetts Fire Academy on Feb. 5. Firefighters Aaron Shumway and Justin Kelleher graduated from the academy’s Career Recruit Firefighter Training Program Class BW08, which trained at the Bridgewater campus. The 10-week program teaches the essentials of fire and non-fire conditions, life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation and fire attack. Kelleher and Shumway are now certified at the level of Firefighter I and II and in hazardous material operation. Kelleher and Shumway joined the Raynham Fire Department in 2017 as call firefighters. Kelleher was hired full time by the department in April 2019, while Shumway was hired full time in July 2019. Both also serve as paramedics.
