Yahoo Sports | Jack Baer: If you haven’t heard, the Astros are in town. In the first meeting between the Yankees and Houston since the latter’s banging scheme was exposed, the Astros were treated to raucous boos from the Bronx faithful. Some fans got creative with taunting signs, a few trash can props were confiscated, and jeers rained down particularly hard on Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, and Jose Altuve. For one night at least, some found catharsis in berating the one team in the league fans now love to hate as much or more than the Yankees themselves.

While Hicks struggles with the New York Yankees, Florial, the club’s No. 10 prospect, began his season with a leadoff home run in the Somerset Patriots’ 6-0 win Tuesday over the Harrisburg Senators at TD Bank Ballpark.
Introducing Yankees Insider:
The game marked the debut of the Patriots as the Yankees’ Double-A franchise. Before Opening Day, there was some debate about whether to assign the 23-year-old Florial to Double-A Somerset or Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

NJ.com | Randy Miller The Yankees and the Houston Astros will play against each other for the first time since the sign-stealing scandal was exposed. Right-hander Domingo Germán will take the ball for New York, having allowed just two earned runs in his last two starts, while veteran Zack Greinke will take the hill for the visitors. Both teams held intense duels in American League Championship Series in 2017 and 2019, both Houston victories, and much has happened since then. This is sure to be a must-watch battle.
MLB.com: Yankees’ starters Gerrit Cole and Corey Kluber got all the accolades on Monday. The former was named the American League’s Pitcher of the Month after a dominant April in which he had a 4-1 record, a 1.43 ERA, and 62 strikeouts against three walks (!), while the latter was the AL’s Player of the Week after two strong starts in which he had a 0.61 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 14.2 frames.

Every spring, there are a handful of minor league contracts handed out to veteran players that raise a few eyebrows. This year, I found myself questioning the additions of Robinson Chirinos and Rob Brantly as non-roster invitees. The Yankees have taken three catchers in the in the first two rounds of the previous three MLB drafts. However, none are close to the major-league level, so it makes a little more sense that the Yankees would want options with a bit more seasoning.
Between Gary Sánchez’s career track record as one of the most dangerous offensive catchers in the league and Kyle Higashioka’s newfound prowess with the bat, the Yankees sneakily have one of the best catching tandems in the league. However, given the injury history of both players, it cannot hurt to have catching support at the alternate site with major league experience, which is precisely why Brantly and Chirinos were brought in. Today, let’s take a look at Chirinos, who
Did the Yankees make a mistake?
Former New York Yankees outfielder Mike Tauchman did not disappoint in his San Francisco Giants debut on Wednesday night.
The
Yankees dealt Tauchman to the Giantson Tuesday in exchange for left-handed reliever Wandy Peralta and a player to be named later.
Tauchman showed promise in a Yankee uniform, batting .266 with 13 home runs and 61 RBIs over 141 games. He never fully got a chance to play regularly, though. So despite his potential, with no minor-league options remaining on his contract, the Yankees traded the 30-year-old to the Giants.
The Giants have lacked stability in center field this season. They immediately plugged Tauchman in out there in his debut last night.
