Church in Warner Robins hosts National Day of Prayer service - 41NBC News

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)–  After more than a year of distanced gatherings, people in Warner Robins came together to pray. First United Methodist Church opened its doors for the National Day of Prayer. People of different religions and denominations were welcome to pray for local communities, the state, and the nation. Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms stepped up to the microphone to pray for Middle Georgia and its first responders. The prayers were organized into 12 sections, covering everything from families to the entertainment industry. Emily Dennis organized the event and hopes people felt a sense of togetherness and healing.

Warner Robins sued for $10M over alleged discrimination

The suit alleges Toms, a White elected official, has displayed racial animus towards minority-owned businesses. Those minority-owned businesses are the ones who filed the suit, A2D and eCBI Warner. They claim that Toms tried to steer business away from them once they installed a fiber optic network and towards Hargray Communications Group, Inc, which the suit says is a predominantly white-owned company. The suit also alleges Toms instructed business owners, both established and new to the City, not to engage in any business transactions with A2D or eCBI.  They go on to claim the city s Director of Building and Transportation, Bill Mulkey, conspired with Toms to deny right-of-way permits for the two companies.
