Why did these Latter-day Saint youths ride their bikes 300-plus miles?

Young men from Lehi’s Eaglecrest 3rd Latter-day Saint Ward stand in front of the Payson Utah Temple on May 31. The Payson temple was one of eight temple stops along the group’s bicycle “Tour de Temples,” covering more than 300 miles from Lehi to St. George, Utah. Ryan and Kristin Kirby A line of young men and a few adult leaders on bicycles, all in matching white shirts, black shorts and helmets, pedaled triumphantly into sunny St. George with sore muscles and fatigue Wednesday afternoon. As the group rolled to a stop near the St. George Utah Temple, another youth walked among them, aiming a water gun and squirting cool liquid on each rider.

GPICA holds public hearing on preserve project By PAULETTE LeBLANC - | May 12, 2021 The Greater Pine Island Civic Association held a public hearing on an application for a project called Pine Island Preserve and Matlacha Pass. During its monthly Zoom meeting Monday, May 3, the GPICA discussed the rezoning and special exception application request for the project that calls for a boardwalk, kayak launch and small parking lot in St. James City. TDM Consulting Senior planner, Veronica Martin and Tom Odom of Mitigation Resources, spoke on the behalf of the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. “We know this project is controversial,” said GPICA president Helen Fox. “We know you’ll have a lot of questions, so I want to make sure we all listen carefully and respectfully to the presenters without interruption, and that the questions we ask at the end of their talk are informational rather than confrontational.”

Great individual seasons by Cubs who had bad springs, since 2006

Great individual seasons by Cubs who had bad springs, since 2006 Share this story This article topic was suggested in the comments to my “great springs” article from Wednesday morning. Spring training numbers generally don’t mean too much, especially now when games are absolutely not played the way regular-season games are, regulars play maybe half the games, lineups are set so that regulars get the most at-bats, etc. So these are players who had terrible springs, then went on to have good regular season numbers. Let’s remember some guys! 2006: Henry Blanco Blanco was in his second year as a Cubs backup and really didn’t hit at all in spring games: .133/.129/.167 (4-for-30). His OBP is lower than his BA because he had a sacrifice bunt AND a sacrifice fly. He did steal a base, which is one more steal than he had in his entire four-year Cubs playing career.
