A worker was hospitalized Monday after an accident involving a forklift at an equipment sales and rental business in Otay Mesa, authorities said.
Few details of how the accident occurred were immediately available, but it happened around 5:30 a.m. at Otay Mesa Sales on Radar Road, near La Media and Otay Mesa roads, according to state and local officials.
Firefighters treated a man in his 40s at the scene, then took him to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesperson Mónica Muñoz wrote in an email.
Local personnel with Cal/OSHA were notified of the accident about an hour after it occurred, according to an emailed statement from the agency, which confirmed that one worker was hospitalized and the agency is investigating the incident.

A Hanmer woman will have to make a $2,000 charitable donation after pleading guilty to five counts under the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act concerning animals on her Radar Road farm.
Matt Peredery, 44, who was accompanied by her lawyer Rejean Parise at his office, entered the guilty pleas via teleconference in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury.
