Harete Kawana was the first person to be vaccinated at the Wainuiomata Marae COVID-19 vaccination clinic when it opened on June 1. Rachel Haggerty of Hutt Valley and Capital & Coast district health boards said they had delivered 126,000 doses by Thursday, mostly in groups 1, 2 and 3, and they also had 56,000 forward bookings in the system. “We are also continuing to rapidly scale up our Covid-19 vaccination programme to make it as easy as possible for more people to be vaccinated in the way that best suits them, as the national rollout continues to ramp up.” She said more than 5,000 people in group 3 were vaccinated in the region this Wednesday and Thursday alone.

programme to make it as easy as possible for more people to
be vaccinated in the way that best suits them.

includes offering a range of vaccination options, including
Community Vaccination Centres, Māori providers, general
practice, community pharmacy, and pop-up events for Pacific
and Disabled communities.
In the past fortnight 21 new
clinics have opened across the region through general
practice and pharmacy, taking the total number of active

More than 3000 people in Wellington received a text message asking them to book their vaccine through a website that doesn’t yet exist or by calling a phone number that was disconnected. The text, sent on Tuesday, was sent to people in group 3 in the Capital and Coast District Health Board area, asking them to book a vaccine through the Government’s new website bookmyvaccine.org.nz, which is not due to be launched until next Wednesday.
