Teesside scam victim conned out of £30k by fake investment broker

By Rachel Conner-Hill echorachelc Chief Reporter (Tees Valley & North Yorkshire) A man in his 70s has received more than £5,000 after being scammed by someone who was claiming to be an investment broker. A MAN in his 70s has received more than £5,000 after being scammed by someone who was claiming to be an investment broker. The man, who lives in Teesside, was conned out of about £30,000 after he thought he was investing in shares in America. The broker then cut ties with the man when he tried to cash in the shares. Cyber Crime officers are investigating and hope to return further funds.
