Re-Open Sask Training Subsidy Extended Into June

By Ryan Young The Re-Open Saskatchewan Training Subsidy has been extended. Originally ending on March 31st, the program will now be available until June 30th. The program provides businesses with financial support to train employees, by reimbursing eligible private-sector employers 100-percent of employee training costs, up to 10-thousand dollars per business. Since the program’s inception on June 18th, 2020, the program had more than 1-thousand applications and 4-million dollars in RSTS-funded training have been approved.

Saskatchewan re-extends COVID-19 worker training subsidy SHARE ON: The Saskatchewan Government has re-extended the Re-Open Saskatchewan Training Subsidy for another two months. The RSTS provides funding so that businesses can train employees to align with COVID-19 safety protocols under the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan, and help them adjust to the impacts the pandemic has brought into the workplace. It covers 100 per cent of these costs for private-sector employers, up to a maximum of $10,000. Now, businesses will be able to take advantage of the program until June 31st, 2021. From the launch of the program in June 2020 until March 2021, it has provided over 1,000 applicants and distributed over $4 million in funding, the Government says.

Business restrictions in public health orders have been expanded since the SSBEP program was renewed in December and businesses are encouraged to re-evaluate their eligibility for both the December and January payments, the release said. The SSBEP program has provided $5.9 million in assistance to 1,521 applicants for the December period. With the public health order extended, more businesses in the province have been impacted. This phase of the program will accept applications for the December and/or January payment until March 2, 2021. Applicants will be eligible for up to $5,000 per month in funding, and those who qualified for the December intake of the SSBEP will not have to re-apply for January. However, businesses will be contacted to attest that they remain eligible for the January payment.
