Itâs an incredible accomplishment, a level of success many franchises would be ecstatic with. But on Thursday night in Montreal, you couldnât tell by the expressions on the Vegas playersâ faces after they were eliminated one step short of the Cup Final for the second straight year.
âObviously this is incredibly disappointing,â defenseman Alec Martinez said, sulking in his chair with his head drooping in front of the microphone. âI think this is one of the best, if not the best team Iâve played on. To come up short is obviously really disappointing. Iâm proud of the way the guys battled. This is a great group.â
