The land and building comprising a regional outlet for one of New Zealand’s best-known men’s fashionwear stores has been placed on the market for sale.
The property at Stafford Street in Timaru is home to clothing retailer Hallenstein Brothers which has been on the site for 22 years – sitting directly on the intersection of Church Street in the city’s main retail precinct with its high foot traffic and vehicle traffic flows.

CEO Rod Duke does not believe more spending on trans-Tasman travel will dampen sales.
The proportion of Briscoe Group’s revenue earned via online channels has jumped from 11% at the beginning of 2020 to as much as 19% currently, according to the NZX-listed retailer’s chief executive Rod Duke.
The Briscoes Homeware, Rebel Sport, and Living & Giving owner today reported unaudited sales for its first quarter, ending May 2, at $173.1 million.
The company noted the Q1 figure was unsurprisingly up (78.4%) on the same quarter of 2020 due to the impact of the Covid-19 lockdown at that time, but was also nearly 15% higher than sales for the first quarter of 2019.
The Ahuriri Hapū Claims Settlement Bill was introduced in Parliament in 2019. It passed its first reading and went through the Māori Affairs Select Committee last year.
