Hi, I m Verklemptomaniac. You may remember me from my fanpost series a from ~2016-2019 tracking terrible judging in boxing. I had to stop putting those together after I got a new job that cut into my free time, but I haven t lost my general outrage at the number of awful judges who keep getting assigned to major fights. So when Billy Joe Saunders questions whether he could get a fair shake from the judges tomorrow in his fight against Canelo Alvarez, and a couple of people asked if I could put together an analysis of the judges for the fight, I realized I had enough time last night to pull that together!

Valdez was magnificent. The game plan was perfect, the execution was just as good. He made Berchelt (37-2, 33 KO) look ponderous and even at times feeble, and I say that with great admiration and awe for Berchelt’s iron chin and even stronger will and determination. But Valdez took him apart. He was better in every way. It was a masterful performance.
