The second venue we’re showcasing is Igloo Restaurant, a family run business which has been serving the Cirencester community locally-sourced meals since 2018. Owner Oliver Matchett and his team had started developing a delivery and takeaway service before the pandemic, but were forced to bring those plans forward to continue trading during lockdown. “Without takeaways I don’t think we’d be here if I’m honest,” said Oliver.

Owner Lisanne Rogers has over 30 years catering experience having previously owned coffee shops and tea rooms in surrounding Wickwar and Berkeley. Lisanne and her team at The Food Hub predominantly aim at catering for corporate lunches serving some huge local companies, however the heart of the business lies in the Monday – Friday sandwich and salad bar that also serves hot food and homemade cakes.

Owner Chris Kyriacou said the last year hasn’t been easy but he’s happy with the business. “To be in the top 15 we’re more than happy. It’s something that shows us we’re doing a good job and it’s always nice to hear positive feedback from our customers,” said Chris, who was born in Cyprus and grew up in Dursley.

This week we’re showcasing venues in and around Dursley and next up is the Old Fox Inn Coaley, which started doing takeaways last year to mitigate the impact of lockdown restrictions on the pub. Co-owner Julie Gilborson said the pandemic had massively impacted the business in it’s third year of trading. “Throughout the last year we’ve periods where can open and periods where we can’t, but we’re very much looking forward to opening on April 12,” she said.
