Regina fire crews kept busy with multiple blazes over the weekend

3 separate house fires keep crews busy on Saturday morning

  REGINA Fire crews were busy on Friday night and Saturday morning responding to three separate house fires. Around 11 p.m. Friday, crews were on the scene of a basement fire in the 1300 block of Princess St. In a tweet, Regina Fire and Protective Services said the blaze was brought under control quickly. Regina power and fire crews asking residents not to call about animals in distress

  REGINA What do you do when you find a cat stuck in a tree? The first thought may be to call the fire department. However, Regina Fire – and SaskPower – say they’re not the ones to call when you find a feline in distress. The reminder to residents comes after a SaskPower crew member helped get a cat out of a tree in Regina’s Normanview neighbourhood Wednesday .A woman who lives nearby said the cat was in the tree for at least 31 hours, after she saw it in the tree on Tuesday morning. She said around 10 people used a ladder to try and coax it down and 20 to 30 came to help.

No injuries in early morning house fire on Retallack Street

Emergency crews were called to the 1200 block of Retallack Street at 1:30 a.m., where they arrived to find a home engulfed in flames with heavy smoke pouring out. Regina Fire says the blaze was contained to the one structure , but added significant damage was done. Regina Fire responded to a house fire at 1:27am 1200 Blk Retallack St. Heavy fire and smoke on arrival. Crews contained the fire to the residence but significant fire damage to the home. No injuries and crews are clear of the scene. Fire will be investigated today. #YQR#RFPS
