Alliance teen receives Eagle of the Cross Award

Alliance teen receives Eagle of the Cross Award Aja Shriver, 18, earned the diocese s Eagle of the Cross Award.   The annual award is given to Catholic students for their involvement in their schools, communities and parishes.  Cindee Case, director of the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry at the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, said adults nominate students who they believe demonstrate exemplary character and leadership skills.  This year, the diocese gave the award to 21 teens across Stark, Portage, Summit, Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties.  I think all of our recipients this past year, the fact that they found ways to still serve during the pandemic makes it doubly impressive to me, Case said. They have to take the initiative to find these other creative ways to serve.
