Being a New Zealander in Chechyna in 2017 had currency. Amanda Saxton writes about how she ended up at the republic s first-ever regatta - and won a silver medal, despite never having sailed before.
America s Cup fever is running high, with Emirates Team New Zealand on the cusp of triumph or defeat. But all the sailing chat takes me back to 2017, when one plucky little republic made its bid to join the international yacht racing scene.

SAILING: Phuket Yacht Club (PYC) has confirmed that the 2021 sailors regatta will take place between March 18-21.

Huhu grubs, goats testicles, fish eye balls and kina – the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron really knows how to throw a party for visiting superyachts and their crew. The RNZYS, celebrating its 150th anniversary and hosting the America s Cup, has dreamed up a cross between The Amazing Race and Fear Factor as part of the four-day Mastercard Superyacht Regatta which starts on Wednesday.
