LOCAL seafood exporters have been caught up in yet another Brexit âteethingâ issue after it emerged that live shellfish exports to the EU will be banned indefinitely.
The measure will affect oyster, clams, mussels and scallops â or live bivalve molluscs (LBMs) deemed to be unfit for human consumption without being purified. Crab and lobsters have not been barred from entering the EU.
Robert Williamson of Scalloway-based QA Fish said that since the beginning of the year he had been unable to export scallops to a new customer in France because of the ban.

Johnson’s deal (choreographed to within an inch of its life), is now celebrated and salvaging basic logistics from collapse is held up as a sign of our glorious future.
Meanwhile, in an alternative dimension, Alister Jack the most discredited and duplicitous Scottish Secretary of State (from a group that includes Michael Forsyth and Malcolm Rifkind) declares (‘Brexit trade deal: Historic moment benefits us all‘):
“After a long and tough negotiation we have secured a fantastic deal with the EU. This is great news for Scottish businesses and families. Having delivered a deal for the whole of the UK in record time, there are opportunities ahead. It is the first time the EU has ever agreed a zero-tariff, zero-quota deal, giving Scotland’s businesses exceptional access to the EU.”

Once inside the virtual hospital, students can practice myriad different health care tasks, including everything from taking vital signs to life-support techniques.
The simulation s creation was spurred by the pandemic, said Ruth Henderson, simulation lab coordinator at ECPI s North Charleston campus.Â
When classes shifted online, officials at East Coast Polytechnic Institute knew students would receive less time receiving critical in-person learning opportunities.Â
The eHospital is broken up into six different parts, including triage, the emergency room, operating room and a medical laboratory.
All of the patients in the simulation have realistic avatars and personal backstories, much like they would in a video game.Â
