The parenting programme is free for families. DUDLEY Council has developed a new parenting programme that can be used by anyone involved in raising a family. The programme, which has been developed in partnership with the NHS, front line workers and parents, is free to use. There is a different course for a variety of needs starting with an antenatal programme ‘Understanding pregnancy, labour, birth and your baby’ to a postnatal course ‘Understanding your baby’. Councillor Ruth Buttery, cabinet member for children and young people said: Dudley Council puts the wellbeing and happiness of our families at the heart of everything we do and, as a mum myself, I understand all too well that while parenting can be the most rewarding thing we do, it can also be the most challenging.
WORRIDED parents staged a protest outside Dudley Town Hall over fears changes to education provision for disabled children could lead to a loss of services. A group made their feelings known to Dudley Council members as they arrived for the first meeting of the municipal year where the new mayor was chosen and cabinet was announced. The authority is making changes to SEND provision following a critical Ofsted and Care Quality Commission inspection in 2019. Among the changes will be the merger of early years, educational advisory and childcare strategy teams and bosses said this will improve provision for families. But parent Rachael Gardener, who is also CEO of the We Love Carers charity, said they fear vital services and specially trained staff will be lost as a result of the changes.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council has unveiled his new-look cabinet team. THE leader of Dudley Council has announced his new cabinet, outlining regeneration, supporting businesses and boosting tourism as their top priorities. At a meeting of the full council last night Councillor Patrick Harley said the authority will continue the £1 billion regeneration plan for Dudley, including the new Dudley Leisure Centre, Very Light rail and Metro. The leader also outlined plans to encourage people to “spend locally” to support town centres as part of the Dudley Deal initiative. Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of the council, said: We have a very strong cabinet full of experience as well as some new faces. We will continue to invest in public services and build on the positive work we have been doing in recent years – particularly the ongoing £1billion investment in regenerating Dudley.
