Coronavirus (Image free to use by all LDRS partners) Cornwall Council has revealed that 4,332 people in Cornwall have been added to the list of those who need to be shielding. Earlier this week the Government identified 1.7million people across the country who they considered should be shielding during the coronavirus pandemic. Today the council urged those who had been identified in Cornwall to take up the offer of a Covid-19 vaccine and said that support is available if required. Sally Hawken, Cornwall Council Cabinet member for public protection, said that people should not be alarmed if they receive a letter advising them to shield.

‘Covid-19 vaccinations - Your questions answered’ will take place live on Facebook on Tuesday, February 9, at 2pm. It will be hosted by the authority’s public health team and live-streamed on Cornwall Council’s Facebook page. On the panel will be the council’s assistant director of public health Dr Ruth Goldstein, infection prevention nurse and vaccinator Tracy Mills, and public health practitioner Dr Whitney Curry. Anyone can ask questions about how Covid-19 vaccines work, including how they prevent serious illness, whether they stop transmission, who can have the vaccines and when, and why it is important for as many people as possible to get vaccinated.
