Cumbrian villagers fight to save local store Print 9th February 2021 The community of Kirkoswald, Cumbria, has raised more than £96,000 to buy their local convenience store after its owner died from the Coronavirus. A fundraising page set up by local people says they aim to form a Community Benefit Society to buy and run Ravenbridge Stores for the benefit of the villagers. The page adds: “The shop provides a vital lifeline for those without transport, provides an area for tea and coffee, and displays work by local artists and the school. The loss of the shop would be a major blow for the village.”
