Two of DPC’s partners are hosting earth day cleanup events.
Friends of Rouge Park, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the protection and enhancement of the natural features and habitats found in Detroit’s largest park, welcomes volunteers to help with a trailhead cleanup at Rouge Park. The trailhead cleanup will focus on the entrances to the Stone Bridge and Mountain Bike Trails and Prairie Pathway. Cleanup is from 10 a.m. till Noon.

DETROIT – Police said a woman
Officials said when police arrived, the woman, who is about 26 years old, was still alive. She was rushed to the hospital, but pronounced dead when she arrived, according to police.
Witnesses reported hearing about five or six shots in the area, authorities said. Officers found shell casings when they arrived at the scene.
About eight men were seen leaving the scene two in cars, two northbound on foot and four southbound on foot, police said. At this time, nobody saw shots being fired, so these men would be considered persons of interest, Detroit police said.

Vehicle strikes pole, killing 2 people

DETROIT – Two women were killed Monday morning when their vehicle struck a utility pole at Joy Road and Trinity Street in Detroit.
Police said the women were traveling in a 2005 Saab when the vehicle left the road and hit the pole. It’s unclear what caused this deadly crash.
No other injuries have been reported.
It remains under investigation.
