Kodi Nikorima showed how dangerous he can be when he backs himself, with a superb game against the Cowboys. Five-eighth Reece Walsh again showed plenty of nice touches, in just his second game in the NRL, and with the way these two halves are going, it will to be tricky for Brown to work out how to get Chanel Harris-Tavita back in the team when he’s recovered from his foot injury in a few weeks. Before the game, there was the usual injury crisis for the Warriors, with David Fusitu’a ruled out again with an injury.
Cowboys players have spoken effusively of the improvement new coach Todd Payten has provided but know it is far too early to start getting carried away with things.
The club was battered early in the year with the loss of both captains and four straight losses but righted the ship impressively over the past three rounds.
While Michael Morgan was forced into retirement with a chronic shoulder issue, his fellow co-skipper Jason Taumalolo returns this week to a side hunting a fourth consecutive win. Todd s been very good for us; as you saw when he took over at the Warriors last year and did a very good job with them, he came up here, brought a fresh attitude and all the boys have bought into that, hooker Reece Robson told NRL.com.
Fastest: Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow
Telstra Tracker top speed: Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 35.5km/h (Round 4 v Sharks)
Telstra Tracker total distance covered: Ben Hampton 9.235km (Round 5 v Tigers) While most people fear the unknown, the Cowboys are learning to embrace it. The club is no closer to knowing just how fast Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow can go, but one thing they are certain of is it will only get faster. While he might be grounded at the moment following ankle surgery, the fleet-footed teen is the quickest at the Cowboys. He has been clocked at a top speed of 37km/h during last year s Nines, but the club s performance staff are certain he has yet to hit top speed.
