First Alert Weather Day: Large hail, wind gusts and isolated tornadoes possible

First Alert Weather Day: Large hail, wind gusts and isolated tornadoes possible KCBD News at Noon Weather - 05/17/2021 By Steve Divine | May 17, 2021 at 6:07 AM CDT - Updated May 17 at 12:54 PM LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Severe weather is likely in the viewing area this afternoon and evening. It’s possible a second round may move through after midnight. While not every spot will receive rain, or severe weather, these storms may produce very large hail, perhaps 2+” in diameter, gusts 70+ mph, flooding downpours, and isolated tornadoes. Storms are expected to develop by mid- afternoon over the western KCBD viewing area. Activity will gradually increase and develop eastward. The likely time in and near Lubbock and Plainview is late afternoon - early evening, approximately 4 to 6 PM.

Weather multi-mix today and tonight

Weather “multi-mix” today and tonight KCBD 7a.m. Forecast - Thurs., April 15 By Steve Divine | April 15, 2021 at 6:17 AM CDT - Updated April 15 at 12:50 PM LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - UPDATED at 12:45 PM with rain totals - A mix of weather elements are likely today, including fog, drizzle, rain, and thundershowers. You may want to allow extra drive time today and tonight due to the potential for areas of low visibility and wet pavement (and other surfaces). Rain event totals at the time of this post are listed at the end. Today through the early morning hours of Friday areas of low visibility in fog/drizzle are possible. I also expect additional spotty rain showers and isolated thundershowers. While I don’t anticipate severe weather, the stronger thundershowers may produce downpours, pea- to marble-size hail, and gusty winds.
