North Huron to continue with online and telephone voting in next municipal election

North Huron is going to online and telephone voting for the next municipal election. Council voted to authorize Township staff to issue a joint request for proposal later this year. The next election of Council is not until 2022 but Reeve Bernie Bailey says they want to make sure everything is in order.

New development in North Huron

North Huron is the latest municipality to be getting some new residential development. Council recently  gave tentative approval of the Hutton Heights development just outside of Wingham (southwest of the corner of Highways 86 and 4). There will also be new development in town at Wingham Creek and two in Blyth (one at the location of the old school, and the other at the north end of the village). Reeve Bernie Bailey says the plan is to start small and add on.   Bailey says the new homes will help address the labour shortage that the region is currently facing. He says there is no place to rent and they hope by allowing new development in the area, industries will be able to hire more people.
