Bureau Veritas opens new laboratory in South Australia
Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC), has celebrated the opening of a new laboratory and testing facility in Regency Park close to Port Adelaide, the hub for Australian naval shipbuilding in South Australia. The facility was officially opened by the Premier for South Australia, the Hon. Steven Marshall MP in a ceremony on 11th May 2021.
The newly opened laboratory is offering ISO 17025 NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) accredited Mechanical Testing on state-of-the-art methods. It demonstrates the commitment of Bureau Veritas to support defence and naval shipbuilding within South Australia. It complements the Group’s existing operations within the state, where 300 staff have been supporting key industry sectors including General Fabrication, Mining and Oil & Gas for more than 50 years.
Pueblo Public Health Officials urge caution after person bit by rabid bat
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) Pueblo Public Health Officials are strongly warning individuals to stay away from wildlife and to vaccinate pets for rabies. This comes after a rabid bat bit an adult in the Pueblo area.
An adult in the Regency Park area was bitten by the rabid bat after picking it up with a pair of gloves, according to Pueblo Public Health. That person is now receiving the rabies vaccine to prevent any further illness. Rabies is caused by a virus transmitted by the bite of an infected animal. Rabies also can be transmitted if the infected animal’s saliva gets into a cut or break in the skin or through the eyes, nose, or mouth.
The building, at 11876 Atlantic Blvd., is next to a Memorial Emergency Center.
The city issued a permit April 30 for Auld & White Constructors LLC to renovate almost 6,500 square feet for what plans call the Atlantic Women’s Center at a cost of $1.5 million.
TM Partners PLLC of Lakewood Ranch is the project architect.
A Memorial spokesperson could not be reached immediately.

Bat tests positive for rabies after biting person in Pueblo

PUEBLO â The Pueblo Health Department is reminding people to vaccinate their pets for rabies after a bat from the Regency Park area in Pueblo tested positive for the virus.
The department said an adult was bitten by the bat and is receiving the rabies vaccine to prevent illness.
According to the Health Department, symptoms of rabies can include fever, agitation, abnormal behavior, seizures, and paralysis. There is no treatment for rabies once symptoms begin and it is fatal.
Bats should be tested for rabies if they come into contact with humans or pets, or if one is found in the home. Batâs teeth are very small and sharp; a bite wound may not be visible.
