Canada banned direct passenger flights from India and Pakistan on April 22 for 30 days amid rising COVID-19 cases and concerns about mutations of the novel coronavirus.
Many Canadians are stranded in India due to this cancellation of flights. Meanwhile, Hong Kong and New Zealand banned flights from India.

Ludhiana: The district administration may have set up many micro-containment zones to check cases, but norms are not being followed to contain infection in majority of such zones and many of them are not even barricaded.
According to the state media bulletin of Thursday, there were eight micro-containment zones in Ludhiana district BRS Nagar, Model Gram, Rishi Nagar, Phase Two Dugri, Urban Estate Phase One Dugri, New Madhopuri areas of city and in Dhanansu and a village at Payal block.
TOI checked how things were being monitored in many micro-containment zones and found that guidelines in most such zones were violated.
The mangled car of the victims
LUDHIANA: Three friends met a tragic end as a truck crushed them to death when they were pushing their fuel-less car up to the filling station on Ludhiana-Amritsar National Highway in the early hours on Saturday.
According to police, the truck driver could not spot the trio pushing the car because of darkness. The accident occurred in Salim Tabri area.
The victims identified as Sanjiv Kumar, 30, a safai karamchari with Ludhiana municipal corporation; Arun Kumar, 23, a painter; and Krishan Kumar, 22, a hotel worker (all residents of Rishi Nagar) were on the way to Jalandhar when their car ran out of fuel.
