Parent will advocate mask-optional rule | Thestar

BUTLER — DeKalb Eastern school board members will hear Monday from a parent who wants them to adopt a “mask-optional” policy for students in the 2021-22 school year. “I just want the choice whether to put one on my kid or myself as an informed individual,” said Milinda Maria Abel, a registered nurse who lives in southeastern DeKalb County. DeKalb Eastern’s superintendent, Shane Conwell, added Abel’s topic to the board’s agenda, but he is suggesting the board continue to follow recommendations of federal, state and county health officials. “What we’ve been doing has been working,” Conwell said.

Young girls followed by man while walking home from school: RCMP

Police / Shutterstock Police are investigating after three young girls were allegedly followed by a suspicious man while they were walking home. The Surrey RCMP says that the incident occurred on Wednesday, just after 4 pm. The three girls were walking home from Riverdale Elementary School when a suspicious man allegedly began following them. “The girls walked from the school to Holly Park on 148 Street when the man continued to follow them, they went into a nearby grocery store for help,” reads a statement from the Surrey RCMP. The suspect reportedly left the area once the girls entered the store. Police are now sharing a description of the suspect and are asking that anyone with information come forward.

  VANCOUVER Mounties in Surrey say they re looking for a suspect after three young girls reported being followed on their way home from school earlier in this week. According to the RCMP, the girls said they were walking home from Riverdale Elementary School when a man began following them. The girls were walking from the school to Holly Park and when they continued to be followed, went into a grocery store for help. Police say the man left the area when the girls went into the store. Mounties say the incident happened at about 4 p.m. on April 21. It was reported to police the next day.

She was sick and she said not to call my dad, but I did and then he called 911 and she got to the hospital, Nate Galante said.According to a GoFundMe page set up for the family, the responding medics told the family that Sarah Galante was just minutes from death.
