HHS Adds More Proposed Modifications to HIPAA Privacy Rule

Monday, December 14, 2020 The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is pushing ahead in its Regulatory Sprint to Coordinated Care with a new proposed rule, announced by HHS’ Office for Civil Rights (OCR) on December 10, to modify the HIPAA Privacy Rule. This proposed rule follows HHS’ 2018 Request for Information on Modifying HIPAA Rules to Improve Coordinated Care (RFI), which sought to identify regulatory impediments to value-based care presented by HIPAA, and comes on the heels of HHS’ recent changes to the rules implementing the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law. With this proposed rule, HHS aims to “reduce burden on providers and support new ways for them to innovate and coordinate care on behalf of patients, while ensuring that [HHS] uphold[s] HIPAA’s promise of privacy and security,” according to HHS Deputy Secretary Eric Hargan. The Bureau of Land Management Invites Public Comment on R&PP to Sevier County RICHFIELD, Utah – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on Sevier County’s Recreation and Public Purposes Act (R&PP) proposal to expand its current landfill.  A draft environmental assessment (EA) is available for public review and comment concurrent with public review of the Notice of Realty Action (NORA) published in the Federal Register today.  The 45-day public comment period for both the EA and the NORA ends on Jan. 25, 2021.   “The Bureau of Land Management strives to be a good neighbor and the R&PP Act allows us to facilitate providing critical infrastructure for Sevier County’s waste management,” said Richfield Field Manager Joelle McCarthy.  “We welcome any input from the public on this proposal.”

If implemented, this proposal would increase recreation opportunities and improve public land access. Potential trails would be located in the Lake Mountains in Utah County, the North Oquirrh Management Area (NOMA) in Tooele County, and Rose and Yellow Fork Canyons in Salt Lake County.   “The BLM recognizes the benefits of increasing recreation opportunities in our metropolitan areas and improving access to public lands,”

Consumer Price Index, Northeast Region – November 2020 12/10/2020 | 04:33pm EDT Send by mail : Message : Regional prices up 0.1 percent over the month; up 1.1 percent over the year The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) in the Northeast inched up 0.1 percent in November, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Acting Regional Commissioner Maureen McDevitt Greene noted that the recent increase reflected a rise in the energy index, up 1.0 percent since October. The food index declined over the month, down 0.1 percent, while the all items less food and energy index was unchanged. (Data in this report are not seasonally adjusted. Accordingly, month-to-month changes may reflect the impact of seasonal influences.)
