The Vancouver Whitecaps aren’t always an easy team to watch, but usually, they at least make you feel something.
Tuesday night, as the Vancouver Whitecaps and Houston Dynamo slogged their way to a 0-0 draw at Rio Tinto Stadium, I felt little other than apathy and boredom.
I have to be honest, if not for my compulsion to cover this team, I might have flipped the channel.
Even so, I will admit I had a second screen going during the match as I watched Giannis Antetokounmpo help deliver the Milwaukee Bucks their first NBA title in 50 years. It was a special moment, and although I have very little personally invested in basketball, it moved me far more than anything I saw in this Whitecaps match.

Longtime rivals Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Salt Lake will clash for the first time this season in Sandy, Utah, on Wednesday night, a welcome opportunity for both clubs to put some recent struggles in the rearview mirror.
Los Angeles (8-5-0, 24 points) is suddenly looking vulnerable after dropping two of its past three matches. The Galaxy play in Utah for the second time in four days after falling to the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday.
Rayan Raveloson put the Galaxy ahead 1-0 in the fifth minute. But Los Angeles, playing without Javier Chicharito Hernandez, did not have enough offensive punch to keep up with the Whitecaps when they struck back with a pair of second-half goals. Hernandez has been sidelined with a calf injury and hasn t appeared in a match since the end of June.

Houston Dynamo FC was back in action following the international break, this time facing their opponents the Vancouver Whitecaps at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. The Whitecaps, while technically the home team have had Rio Tinto designated their home stadium due to international travel restrictions from Covid-19. Over the course of the match, the Dynamo and Whitecaps put on a masterful defensive showing with great shape, reading of passes, and tackling. However, these defensive efforts, along with more conservative tactics, hampered the offense from being able to produce in the 0-0 draw.
