CPB data: Increasing number of people crossing border illegally evading Border Patrol

(The Center Square) – More than 42,000 people crossing the U.S.-Mexico border evaded authorities in April, preliminary Customs and Border Protection (CPB) statistics show. More than 177,000 people illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border were apprehended by Border Patrol in the month, on top of the 42,620 who evaded apprehension, according to preliminary CBP numbers, Jaeson Jones, former captain of the Texas Department of Public Safety, said. During February and March, those evading capture were estimated to be about 30,000 people per month – meaning they were not processed by border patrol and entered the general U.S. population. The number of people who evade capture is now closer to nearly 1,400 people a day, conservative estimates by border patrol indicate.

I think what is wrong with this immigration system right now, it’s become too political, says Chris Cabrera of the National Border Patrol Council, the agents’ union. That is why nothing is getting solved. Everything is red versus blue. And whatever you believe, I have to believe the opposite.

Mission accomplished? Why is Biden s real Border Czar stepping down ahead of schedule?

AP Photo/Patrick Semansky National Security Council Coordinator for U.S. Southern Border Roberta Jacobson, the Biden administration’s border czar, is stepping down at the end of April. The administration is brushing off questions about timing and cause for her resignation by pointing out that she only signed on for the first 100 days. Such a provision at a time like this is odd enough, but Jacobson isn’t even sticking around the full 100 days. The southern border is a crisis of Joe Biden’s making. Jacobson was paraded out by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki in March and at that time she used the same talking points as everyone else in the administration uses – the border crisis is a challenge, not a crisis. She dishonestly pointed to the Trump administration and said the Biden administration inherited a mess at the border. Since her appointment, Jacobson has pretty much been missing in action as far as a casual observer can tell. For those of us who try to keep up with
