When Ben Allaire walked into Patrick Gym on Sunday afternoon, he was happy. “It feels so good to be getting the vaccine,” said the freshman from Westminster, VT, patting his shoulder. “I feel safer.” He was one of 605 people who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine in UVM’s first on-campus vaccination clinic, a collaboration between the university, the Vermont Department of Health, and Walgreen’s pharmacy.
With exams, graduation, and summer approaching, “we want to be sure as many students as possible have an opportunity to receive the vaccine,” said John Marcus 84, UVM’s emergency manager who helped organize the clinic. “The students have stepped up and this is going great.”

September 4, 2021. The 2021 season will also feature a radio play of Shakespeare’s
Macbeth
which was
shared with partner schools as an audio play this spring. It premieres for the general public on June 7 and is available as streaming audio through June 20.

Although match play is a format that allows many competitors to be more aggressive on certain shots and puts the emphasis more on one’s opponent than on the course, Dan Russo doesn’t change his focus much at all.
Russo, the 63-year-old member of Schuyler Meadows, is the area’s all-time leader in major tournament victories among amateurs. Russo certainly knows how to win in golf, and he will play his normal game next weekend when the annual Tri-County Golf Association Match Play Championship is contested Friday through Sunday at Colonie Golf & Country Club.

This week, Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV) signed laws which will protect young women from having to compete against biological men in sports, as well as unborn babies and their mothers who change their mind after starting the process for a chemical abortion.
The governor proudly put his signature to a law to do with the former issue on Wednesday, as John Raby reported for AP, writing West Virginia transgender athlete bill signed by governor. Raby noted that the state Senate had added the college component, before being overwhelmingly approved in the House of Delegates.
Good-bye to West Virginiaâs good public schools.
Last week, Gov. Jim Justice signed into law the West Virginia Legislatureâs plan to give this state the nationâs widest-ranging school voucher program. In my opinion, this will eventually decimate our stateâs public school system.
Youâll notice I said good-bye to West Virginiaâs good public schools. I did not say great or superior schools, but I also did not call them dreadful. Some school systems in this state are quite good; a few are inadequate. All could benefit from improvement, but instead the Legislature has thrown the baby out with the bathwater.
