COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Purdue Sports) Purdue baseball scored in the first inning for the first time since April 19, but Maryland s three solo home runs helped power the Terrapins to a 6-1 victory in game 2 of the series Saturday.
Maryland (23-14) led 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth when Chris Alleyne, Ben Cowles and Bobby Zmarzlak all hit solo home runs over the span of five batters on the third time through the lineup. Those were the only earned runs Trent Johnson allowed over six innings, accounting for his fourth quality start of the season. The senior did not walk a batter for the second time this year and the fourth time as a Boilermaker in which he pitched at least four innings

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Purdue Sports) Trent Johnson and Cory Brooks combined for 12 innings of four-run ball as the starting pitchers and Purdue baseball scored six times in the ninth inning to sweep a doubleheader with Michigan State and Illinois on Sunday.
An adult male was located injured at the scene and received treatment by EMS and at Meadow Lake Hospital before receiving further treatment in Saskatoon. In addition, a white car had struck a power pole at the scene and was on fire and the fire was being extinguished by the Meadow Lake Fire Department. There were multiple bullet holes located in the white car. The incident is believed to be gang-related. “When serious incidents like this happen, the public may not be aware of what is going on in the investigation behind the scenes,” said S/Sgt. Ryan How, Meadow Lake RCMP Detachment Commander. “Complex investigations take time. Throughout the past three months, police experts were working diligently to gather evidence, bring forth charges and locate and arrest the individuals responsible. We are dedicated to making our communities safer and having charges laid in serious files like this is one way we strive to do just that.”
