Occupation and blockade generate fuel crisis in Syria Occupation and blockade generate fuel crisis in Syria Damascus, Jan 10 (Prensa Latina) The Petroleum Ministry of Syria has attributed the country s current crisis of hydrocarbon derivatives to the foreign occupation of oil fields and the economic blockade. A ministerial statement indicates that the US occupation of the oil-rich areas in northeastern Syria, the unjust blockade and the sanctions imposed by Washington and the European Union are the causes of the current shortage of fuel that the Arab country is going through. According to the government, the amount of gasoline allocated to the provinces was reduced to 17 percent and crude oil to 24 percent. The situation will be normalized with the early arrival of imports.
