Mumbai: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the Antilla bomb scare and Mansukh Hiran murder produced police inspector Sunil Mane before a special NIA court on Friday at 2 pm. NIA officials sought Mane s custody in the case. Mane was sent to NIA s custody till April 28.
NIA arrested Mane early on Friday morning. Mane was the in-charge of Unit-11 of the Mumbai crime branch.
NIA sources said that Mane was involved in Mansukh Hiranâs murder and helped suspended assistant police inspector Sachin Vaze in the crime. Interestingly, this isnât the first time Mane has courted controversy. In May 2020, Mane was transferred to the Modus Operandi Branch (MOB) of the crime branch after an accused levelled allegation that the officer had asked for money. The then joint commissioner of police (Crime) Santosh Rastogi, who is currently with the NIA, had termed the transfer as âadministrativeâ.

Mumbai: Suspended Assistant Police Inspector Riyazuddin Kazi, arrested by the National Investigation Agency on Sunday in the Antilia Bomb scare and Mansukh Hiran murder case was produced before a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court today. NIA did not seek his further custody and hence Kazi was remanded to judicial custody till April 23.
Kazi was last produced before a holiday court on Sunday that had remanded him in the NIAâs custody till 16 April.
A day following his arrest, Kazi, who was Sachin Vazeâs subordinate in the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU), had been suspended. NIA alleges Kazi destroyed important evidence linked to the case such as CCTV footage from a number plate shop in Vikhroli where fake number plates used in the Scorpio car laden with explosives parked outside Mukesh Ambaniâs residence, was made.
