Spring City Celebrates Hargus Pig Robbins With Tennessee Music Pathways Marker Wednesday, June 9, 2021
Spring City native and accomplished pianist Hargus “Pig” Robbins will be honored by the State of Tennessee with the installation of a “Tennessee Music Pathways” marker square in his hometown on Saturday.
At the marker reveal, guests will hear from Mr. Robbins, along with local leaders, about the importance of this commemoration.
It will be held at Spring City Museum and Depot at 390 Front Street in Spring City on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Those participating include Mr. Robbins and family members; Dave Jones, Tennessee Department of Tourist Development; Spring City Mayor Woody Evans; and Rhea County Mayor George Thacker.

Jenny Swafford Named Bryan College Associate Athletic Director Wednesday, June 9, 2021
Bryan College announces that alumna Jenny Swafford will take on the role of associate athletic director.
Ms. Swafford is a Rhea County local and played for the Lion s softball team. She earned a BA in psychology in 2012 and an MS in psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2015.
David Holcomb, vice president of Advancement and Athletics, says, “We are excited to have Jenny on board with our leadership team. Her background as a former collegiate athlete, admissions counselor, resident director and current professor of psychology uniquely qualifies her to help lead the ever-increasing complexity of college athletics.”
