CENTENE, a US health corporation expanding throughout the NHS, has been repeatedly fined in its native United States for medical and financial failures.
Missouri-based Centene is enthusiastic about Britain, which it says is one of its two overseas locations. It is so keen it is buying key British companies and key British personnel.
Centene is very big in the United States it is the 42nd-biggest firm in the US, according to the Fortune 500 list of US firms.
Centene is bigger than Pepsi and Disney and almost as big as Boeing.
It has grown by becoming a big supplier in the marketplace of the US’s primitive public healthcare systems, Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Older readers may still think of everywhere east of West Germany as Eastern Europe. Though sometimes agglomerated into broader groupings of Central and Eastern Europe, we would follow their own national preference (and some historical and geographic logic) and describe Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary as comprising Central Europe.
These four countries differ in their opportunities and where you would start, but they are similar enough, close enough and influence each other sufficiently that for the long term of 20‒30 years, it is sensible to consider their prospects together.

Torrevieja Hospital now has only two covid patients
As the cumulative incidence drops to 53 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants, the constant fall in infections from covid in the Torrevieja health area since the beginning of February has led to a situation at the Torrevieja University Hospital that has not occurred since the end of May last year; the hospital is treating just one patient in ICU and one on the wards, who are suffering with coronavirus.
At one point, on January 3, it reached 140 patients on the wards, with 24 critically ill in the ICU. This figure did not include the patients who were being treated by the Quirón private Hospital during that period.

Supreme Court refuses Ribera Salud appeal to extend management of Torrevieja hospital
The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) has said that Ribera Salud must hand over the Torrevieja health authority, which affects 140,000 people, to public management, under the terms set out by the Generalitat.
Ribera Salud had sought to invalidate the changeover, saying that they should retain control because of the difficulties caused by the pandemic.
The ruling denies the request for suspension of the handover with some harsh arguments, stating that Ribera Salud was acting as though it had only just been notified of the handover and was not foreseen, when it was actually written into the contract many years ago, at its time of signing.
