Downtown Stockton streets were filled Sunday morning with Fourth of July paradegoers as excitement, smiles, laughs and American pride overflowed during the event.
This year, city officials, first responders, car clubs and more all joined the pride and celebration.
“I just think it s important for our community to be able to gather and celebrate and still be mindful of what is happening in the world but also do something fun,” said Linda Vasquez, Parade Committee chairwoman and a 2021 Key to the City recipient.
An event that was approved and in the works only some four weeks ago was enjoyed by many parade attendees. This year s Fourth of July parade not only means COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and people are starting to get back to their “normal” lives, but it also represents freedom to some.

Terry Lincoln, also from St Ives, watched in horror as floodwater wrecked his home within hours earlier in the year.
He said: “It has been such a mess and the more we look for things, the more we seem to have lost - I lost nearly all my tools and garden equipment as well as everything in the house and garage.

The Best Eco-Retreats in the UK
With foreign holidays on ice, compound those saved carbon emissions with a stay at a green paradise a little closer to home
By Laura Martin Volvo
From experimenting with home-brewing and sourdough starters to cottagecore, spending a year stuck at home has had us all questioning our modern lifestyles. Could we go back to a more natural way of life and become more self-sustainable? It’s a hard reach, but one easy place to start is with holidays; specifically keeping them in the UK, and making them greener.
Over the past few years, eco-retreats have managed to shake off the reputation of being lentil-knitting campsites with dubious sawdust long-drops. Instead, you can now pick from achingly hip boutique accommodation on offer across the country, which just happens to positively contribute to the local environment and communities, while minimising any ecological impact on the area. Nice work; n
