Kunming: Travellers can go to any lengths to avoid paying the much-hated extra baggage fee. While many people are known to have worn multiple layers of clothes to escape the extra baggage fee, four travellers from China ended up eating 30 kilograms of oranges. They ate the fruits in under 30 minutes at an airport in Kunming in Southwest China s Yunnan Province.
A man, surnamed Wang, and his colleagues had bought a box of oranges weighing 30 kilograms for 50 yuan (Rs 564) while they were on a business trip to Kunming. When they were preparing to board the plane, the airport staff informed them that they had to pay 10 yuan for each kilogram of the oranges totalling 300 yuan (Rs 3,384).
