KATHMANDU, May 12 (Xinhua) The Hongshi Shivam Cement Private Limited, a China-Nepal joint venture in Nepal, has donated 200 oxygen concentrators to the Nepali government to help the country treat more COVID-19 patients, the company said Wednesday.
The company handed over the oxygen concentrators through the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), a group of medium- and large-scale industries in Nepal.
Satish Kumar More, director of the joint venture, told Xinhua that 173 oxygen concentrators were handed over to the Nepali Health Ministry in Kathmandu and 27 others were sent to the Nepali Embassy in Beijing.

Kathmandu, May 12 (UNI) The Hongshi Shivam Cement Private Limited, a China-Nepal joint venture in Nepal, has donated 200 oxygen concentrators to the Nepali government to help the country treat more COVID-19 patients, the company said Wednesday.
The company handed over the oxygen concentrators through the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), a group of medium- and large-scale industries in Nepal.
Satish Kumar More, director of the joint venture, told Xinhua that 173 oxygen concentrators were handed over to the Nepali Health Ministry in Kathmandu and 27 others were sent to the Nepali Embassy in Beijing.
The 173 oxygen concentrators were brought to Kathmandu aboard a chartered flight by the Nepal Airlines on Tuesday along with a shipment of oxygen cylinders donated by the Chinese government.
Kul Bahadur Gurung, a senior official with the NMA, said climbers and their Sherpa guides were estimated to have carried at least 3,500 oxygen bottles this season. These bottles often get buried in avalanches or are abandoned on the mountain slopes at the end of the expedition.
“We appeal to climbers and sherpas to bring back their empty bottles wherever possible as they can be refilled and used for the treatment of the coronavirus patients who are in dire needs,” Gurung said.
On Sunday, Nepal reported a daily increase of 8,777 infections, 30 times the number recorded on 9 April. The total caseload stands at 394,667 and 3,720 deaths, according to government data.
