Police & Crime Commissioner hopeful Liz Webster The experience of being a victim of a serious crime fired Liz Webster’s desire to be the next police and crime commissioner for Swindon and Wiltshire. The 57-year-old is the mum of Harry Webster who suffered a horrendous hammer attack when he was a pupil at Ridgeway School in 2007. Now the Liberal Democrat candidate for the job of setting policy and budgets for Wiltshire Police has said that was where she started seeing what could be improved. “It was a hugely difficult time. My son was fighting for his life and it felt like I was along and there was nobody to hear what I had to say,” she said.
The elections for the role are due to take place in May. Liz Webster says she can bring a sober and serious perspective to the discussion of policing and crime prevention , after crime thrust itself into her life. In 2007, Liz s son Henry suffered brain-damage after being attacked by a gang with a hammer at The Ridgeway School in Wroughton, near Swindon. Liz said: Fighting for his life in hospital I begged and hoped for my son’s survival but I couldn’t help but wonder why such an event was ever allowed to unfold in the first place. Who had failed? Was it the School, Police or the Politicians? Finally, after three and half years, my persistence led to an independent inquiry publishing the many systemic failures so that lessons could finally be learnt.

The Ridgeway School, a school for children with learning difficulties based in Farnham, Surrey in the U.K. has deployed Boxlight Corp. s Clevertouch IMPACT Plus touchscreens. The school selected these touchscreens for their simple interface and tools and apps for learning, according to a press release. After seeing a demonstration of the Clevertouch display and ensuring it matched the requirement of the school, the Clevertouch option was chosen and deployed to 15 classrooms initially, with a view for additional interactive screens in the future as the school expands, Mark Weston, owner and managing director of CI-Connect Ltd., a Clevertouch partner, said in the release.

Just north of Walters Pumpkin Patch sit an old church, the last vestiges of a town called De Graff. Now called the De Graff Community Church, the classic country church carries a Burns address of 1145 N.W. 108th.
Constructed in 1902 as First Presbyterian Church of De Graff, about 50 people call the church their own. And it has grown over the course of the last year despite COVID-19. It has been a fantastic time, said minister Kurt Spivey, who has led the church since January of 2020. The church has grown, even with the virus.
This week some good news came for the church Gov. Laura Kelly announced the Historic Sites Board of Review awarded $1,168,492 for 15 historic preservation projects across the state as part of the 2021 round of Heritage Trust Fund grants. In that award is $62,990 for the historic church.
